Obesity In America-WILL IT GET WORSE BEFORE IT GETS BETTER

Despite the millions spent on obesity research and billions spent on quick weight loss diets, Americans are heavier than ever. In fact, 61 percent of American adults are now overweight, up from 45 percent some 20 years ago. What's more children are following in their parents' heavier footsteps. One out of eight school-aged kids is obese, twice the fraction of two decades ago. And, experts estimate that one in four is overweight. Overweight in this case is defined as having a body mass index (weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared) between 25 and 29.9 and obese is defined as having a BMI more than 30...Here you can share your opinion with other people on the Net.

I have some overweight relatives one being my father so I must have some of the genetics that would make me obese, right? Well, I am a pretty fit person, I'm not over weight I eat healthy and exercise. I don't believe that I will ever become obese due to the fact that I won't allow myself to. Therefore I do not think its fair to have to pay more for life insurance Just because I have a gene and have the potential of becoming obese.

Being overweight or obese is for the most part a lifestyle choice.
I was overweight for years until a year and a 1/2 ago when I started going to the gym and have since lost at least 50 lbs.
It's a matter of choosing to workout and figuring out ways of dealing with craving.
For instance I love white chocolate bars in the afternoon while working.
Stopped taking money to work and that problem is solved.

I just came across your blog about Reports about improvement and wanted to drop you a note telling you how impressed I was with the information you have posted here. I also have a web site about Reports about improvement so I know I'm talking about when I say your site is top-notch! Keep up the great work, you are providing a great resource on the Internet here!

America is obese, but the obese do not deserve all of the blame. Some families might want to start dieting but are too tied up with work schedules to try any experimentation. It may be easy to start going to the gym after work at a young age, but the obese that are near retirement age and don’t have the energy to work out anymore can’t be blamed for inactivity.
America is very much a society of productivity. People can’t be expected to put their livelihood on hold just to lose that double chin. Many white collar jobs are often times too demanding for the workers to have much free time at all. Another problem that contributes to obesity in America is travel.
Vehicles are very commonplace to own in most places in America. New Yorkers are much less obese because of their reduced dependency on vehicles for travel and must rely much more on their own two feet. While this holds true for New Yorkers, the rest of America drives to work every morning.
With Americans so busy with their jobs and other obligations, they really have no time or energy whatsoever for gyms or wasting money on dieting books.
