Magazine recognizes child obesity fight

With child obesity on the rise in America, a Fairhope Elementary School P.E. teacher is being featured in Sports Illustrated for her innovative approach to getting kids to be more active. Kristie Andres, a third-grade physical education teacher, has combined recess-style fun with traditional athletic activities to make exercising enjoyable for her students. Andres' program is featured in the Nov. 15 issue of Sports Illustrated as an example of a "creative curriculum," in an article about the growing problem of childhood obesity in America. According to the American Obesity Association, 15.3 percent of children ages 6 to 11 were obese in 2000 -- up from 7 percent 20 years earlier. What do you think about that ?
